Differdange

Science Center

Differdange has been a place of industry, starting from the late 19th century. Up until today, it's one of the most important industrial sites of the country when it comes to steel production. Even though some of the former industrial buildings aren't used for their original purpose anymore, they are not deserted at all.

One of those buildings is the former Léierbud, a place where new workers of the steel industry learned their craft. After it was no longer needed and closed in 2014, it now has a new educational purpose: teaching everyone, young and old, about science. The Luxembourg Science Center opened its doors in 2017 and offers a multitude of ways to explore scientific principles and technology.

Explorations

The heart of the Luxembourg Science Center, the Exploration room, offers you the opportunity to discover science and technology in over 100 different interactive stations. They range from the principles of physics and electricity to a friendly game of table football with a robot and offer explanations in different languages and difficulty levels.

Shows

Another key component of the Luxembourg Science Center are the large variety of "Science Shows" that are held on a regular basis. Are you fascinated about chemistry? Have you always wanted to understand the principles of magnetism or to admire the night sky in a Planetarium? Fluids, materials, mechanics, electricity, mathematics, a kitchen lab, mobility, chemistry, optics, magnetism and many more are explained in spectacular ways you will never forget.
